Avanti communications raises awareness of mental health in the workplace with World Marathon Challenge partnership

LONDON, 23rd January 2023: Avanti Communications (“Avanti”) today announced its sponsorship of former British Army Major, adventurer, and award winning mental health campaigner, Sally Orange, who will be taking on the infamous 7-7-7 World Marathon Challenge this January.

The multiple world record holder, who served for 22 years in the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Physiotherapy Officer, will be running 7 marathons, across 7 continents, in 7 days, with funds going to 7 different charities.

Avanti has a long history of supporting veterans as part of its long-term commitment to the Services. This latest partnership aims to help break the stigma around mental health in the workplace, with Avanti employees committing to their own 7-7-7 sports challenge.

In her role as a mental health campaigner, Sally draws on her own lived experience with depression and anxiety to inspire others. Through a focus on physical activity, healthy eating and an overcoming adversity mindset, she hopes this latest challenge will help start more conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

Sally Orange, says: “I am thrilled to be partnering with Avanti on this latest challenge. Their vital support means that all of the money I raise will go directly to the seven charities* I have chosen to support. I have also been inspired by their efforts to run their own 7-7-7 challenge to help break the cycle of stigma that still surrounds mental health, which is something I’m incredibly passionate about.”

Avanti’s 7-7-7 challenge will see employees join in groups of 7 to run, walk, cycle or swim 7km every day for 7 days.

Debbie Mavis, Group HR Director at Avanti Communications, says: “We’re honoured to be supporting Sally on this monumental challenge. Her determination, fearlessness and leadership is an inspiration to all of us at Avanti. Her promotion of the benefits of exercise and the importance of discussing mental health has motivated us to launch our own challenge and offer Mental Health First Aid training to all our employees. We wish Sally the best of luck and will be cheering her on from the sidelines.”
